at a glance

Leandro Santana transformed his father's old balcony, selling beer and sweet treats, into a celebrated chicken restaurant  named bar do tino, atop the Morro dos Prazeres, near Santa Teresa. As the restaurant grew, the whole family came to work there, including Leandro's brother, their wives, his aunt and his mum and father.

They prepare deep grilled chicken and pork ribs, masterfully soaked for a day in the chefs' secret seasoning, before being cooked on the two large barbecue ovens of the establishment. The meat, crispy on the outside and wonderfully succulent within, is accompanied by their specialty mandioca, also with a crunchy exterior and creamy, melt-in-your-mouth interior. Customers can take in idyllic, panoramic views of Sugar Loaf mountain and the guanabara bay through the restaurant's large, glass window.
