One of its key projects is the production of a Directory for the monitoring of institutions and public security policies, to consolidate and disseminate information, encourage the evaluation of existing management practices, and aid in the formulation of new strategies going forward. 

the forum produces a biannual edition of the Revista Brasileira de Segurança Pública (Brazilian Journal of Public Security), which gathers and publishes significant information and findings in the area. It also conducts an annual meeting, where leaders and public safety professionals from across the country exchange project ideas and experiences.

The forum also co-ordinates an interactive website where police and citizens from across the country can talk openly about topics related to public safety, thereby opening up debate on ways to improve police activities.
