born through viva rio, viva favela is an organization of community reporting based on the contributions of residents of favelas.  anyone can register on the site and send pictures, videos, or articles of interest to the life and development of a favela.    

viva favela encourages community pride and residents of all favelas to take part in the social and even political development of their communities by signaling important events and facts in need of attention.   

from viva favela a number of projects were born, including the famous foto favela, a site showcasing community photography and other photos by favela residents.

the central única das favelas - cufa is  nationally recognized organization active in social, sporting, and cultural events - mostly related to music and hip-hop.
