Created in 2001, Viva favela (Live Favela) is a journalism project which brings together and disseminates news, views and experiences from favelas and communities across the city of Rio.

It aims to provide an alternative perspective to traditional media outlets, contributing to the social integration and digital inclusion of  under -epresented members of the population.

It is a digital publication, containing stories, blogs, photos and video content from a wide array of contributors - It also produces a multimedia magazine every two months which has over 15,000 subscribers.
