One of the projects it has overseen is Vamos Desenrolar (Let's Unwind), a knowledge production seminar in which academics who specialize in the communities of complexo do alemão and penha shared their research in the name of creating consistent community development policies.

Raízes em Movimento was instrumental in the formation of the project Faveladoc, in which young people in the Complexo do Alemão were taught how to make and edit short films about the impact of the World Cup on their neighborhoods.

Between 2009 and 2013 the institute also developed the Projeto Adubando Raízes Locais (Composting Local Roots Project), which developed a wealth of integrated activities in the region, supporting young people in education, promoting entrepreneurship and small local enterprises and running debates and workshops.
