The goal of the work is to understand how young inhabitants of peripheral territories have been involved in the formation of perception of the areas where they live and of themselves. It looks to explore the extent to which these representations corroborate or move away from hegemonic representations, particularly those that appear in newspapers and a number of blogs. Rocha analyzes both, auto-representations coming from within the favelas and external productions 'about' favelas.
