the organization helped create the Movement of Social Gastronomy, which now has the support of the gourmet market and social investors, including companies, foundations, institutes and everyday people.

another locally grown inititative is Taça das Favelas (Favela Cup), a football competition between favela residents from across the city, It brings together more than 90,000 young people, and has three divisions: A, B and C - In 2015, there were 80 teams involved, 64 of which were male and 16 female.

The aim of the cup is to use sport to promote integration between communities as well as to discover hidden sporting talent - It looks to use sporting spaces as a way to involve all of Brazilian society in the mega-events that Brazil is playing host to and to increase the self-esteem of those involved. arrow-back      arrow-forward
