at a glance

the ilha suruquai, bom jardim and ilha nova are close to capăo, while ilha do cavado and ilha das baleias are located beyond them.

these islands are part of some of the most important and well preserved the mangrove covering of metropolitan rio de janeiro - to the west, in the marambaia island, there's also another important habitat, the 'restinga'.

ilha do capăo is  covered in marshes, a this kind of terrain quite prevalent in the western side of guaratiba, spreading between the neighborhoods of barra de guaratiba, to the south, and pedra guaratiba, to the north.   arrow-back     arrow-forward
