to the west is the camorim neighborhood, where are located the riocentro convention center, the largest in latin america, and the parque olímpico cidade do rock, the 'olympic park city of rock'.

on the eastern edge of the lagoon is the canal known as camorim lagoon, which connects it to the neighboring tijuca lagoon - under the canal is the wide complex of the via parque shopping mall.

the jacarepaguá lagoon itself contains two important islands, the island of the jacarepaguá lagoon and the pombeba island.
