at a glance

with the opening of the estrada da gávea, or the gávea roadway, the neighborhood also created the famed racing circuit of gávea, popular during the late 1920s and into the 1930s.

industry surged in the early years of 20th century, with various companies making their name in gávea - among the first to be constructed were fabric manufacturers in the 1920s, and then in later years these were replaced by industrialized chemical labs.

currently, gávea's residential neighborhood offers charming streets and quaint homes close to the neighboring leblon, ipanema, and são conrado neighborhoods - beyond the beauty of its natural surroundings, the neighborhood also plays host to various quality restaurants, shopping malls, and cultural landmarks. arrow-back      arrow-forward
