for samba fans, the famous niterói's samba schools viradouro and cubango also performed together for the first time at réveillon at icaraí - on december 31st, for the festa da virada, around 500 thousand people start gathering at around 8 pm to welcome the new year. 

and finally, an impressive 20-minute long fireworks show  reflects on the waters of guanabara bay, illuminating the museum and the hills around icaraí creating a truly beautiful scenario - nine thousand fireworks, distributed on three rafts across from icaraí beach, generate amazing color combinations and intricate designs while keeping the noise level down.
