niterói also boasts several important museums, like the ingá and the antónio parreiras, which were established within buildings considered to be shining examples of the local architecture. the ufo-shaped modern art museum was designed by the legendary brazilian modernist architect oscar niemeyer, who also designed brasilia, the capital of brazil. the fluminense federal university, one of brazil's most important research centers, is located in niterói as well. niterói is also home to a variety of cultural events throughout the year, such as theatrical and jazz festivals. |
