at a glance
a specially-made ramp at the top of pedra bonita is used by hang gliders from the top and para gliders from underneath and in front. the gliders float to the beach below or the grassy landing spot to the right of it. several tour companies offer packages to thrill seekers interested in trying their hand at either sport. pedra bonita is not as crowded with tourists as some of rio's more well-known nature attractions and offers an incredible bird's-eye view of the city. it towers over the tijuca forest, the world's largest urban forest, and its access road is via estrada das canoas in são conrado, and continuing along estrada da pedra bonita.
