at a glance

after reaching the trail head, its about a 40 minute moderate-level walk to the summit.

the walk up winds through tropical vegetation, with exotic butterflies flitting from banana tree to banana tree until reaching the top of pedra bonita which is mostly bald and void of greenery.

once at the top, visitors get spectacular 360 views of rio's coastline and the surrounding mountains.

hikers can also get to the mountain through the tijuca forest, which is home to a variety of waterfalls, the tijuca lagoon and many rare species of plants and animals.     arrow-back      arrow-forward
