at a glance
a purpose built ramp at the top of bonita & gávea is used by hang gliders from the top and para gliders from underneath and in front. pedra bonita towers over the tijuca florest, the world's largest urban forest. access to the rock is via estrada das canoas in são conrado and continuing along estrada da pedra bonita. in addition to bonita & gávea, são conrado is home to another important cliff, including pedra da gávea, the famous square-top monolith. a mansion owned by one of the old landlords was converted into an art museum, the vila riso, which remains an important hallmark of the region.
