The region's coast is lapped by the waters of the Sepetiba Bay, and small embankments have been made to host piers for recreational boats. At the northernmost point of the Pedra de Sepetiba coastline is the Ponta Grossa rock, which is surrounded by smaller isolated rocks and stones that peek over the waves. Praia da Brisa, or 'Brisa Beach', was recently reformed, and now plays host to a number of significant shows and events, including impressive New Year's Eve festivities.

gastronomy is very important to te local industry and the quality of establishments is widely know. thus, there are a number of popular restaurants like Amendoeira, and Cãndido's, as well as Rei da Empada. The region's fish market is also highly acclaimed. Another noteworthy establishment is the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Desterro, or the 'Church of Our Lady of Exile', which was built in 1626 and is the third oldest church in the city of Rio de Janeiro. arrow-back      arrow-forward
