at a glance

The region contains the 18th Century Administrative Region (Cadernos Favela-Bairro, 2005, p. 15). Os Cadernos Favela-Bairro recounts the history of the community, which began in 1920, with the arrival of residents from agricultural areas of the interior of the state. However, in 1947, occupation expanded as a result of the opening of the Estrada Moriçaba, which means 'affection' in the indigenous language. Until 1971 access to the community was made through the dirt, sometimes in the middle of guava and mango plantations, and networks of sanitary waste, water supply and light were non-existent until the 1970s. arrow-back      arrow-forward
