along the same lines, the instituto ciência hoje  (ich) is a center for the dissemination of scientific knowledge based in botafogo. 

botafogo is also home to the samba school são clemente - one of the most traditional and cherished samba schools in rio de janeiro, every year taking part in the carnival parades in the sambódromo.
