Since the beginning of the urbanization of the city, in the second half of the 16th Century, these territories made up the paths to the lands of the sugar mills - during the 18th Century, these routes took on a role of major importance for the defense against foreign invasion, and during the 19th Century, the area was characterized by pleasant and noble farms. 

during the advent of the Republic, everything began to revolve around the political decisions that would determine the future of the country - during this time the neighborhoods of catete, glória and flamengo gained great historical significance.
