Presented by the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, the study envelhecendo no 'paraíso da terceira idade': o bairro de Copacabana e sua dinâmica territorial (Aging in the 'paradise of old age': the neighborhood of Copacabana and its territorial dynamic), by Mayara Gonzalez de Sá Lobato has the objective of understanding how the elderly residents of the neighborhood of Copacabana, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, appropriated public space, what images they have of the neighborhood, how the infrastructure of the neighborhood has been adapted to suit the needs of these residents and how civil society seeks to defend their interests.

As the neighborhood with the greatest concentration of elderly people in Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana has a very unique territorial dynamic, and constant deploys public policies and civil actions to provide a better quality of life to these residents - The present research aims to highlight these actions, as well as the views and attitudes of senior citizens about the neighborhood in which they live. arrow-back      arrow-forward
