The unit runs three bases: the first on the access point with Avenida Niemeyer (Niemeyer Avenue) - another at the peak of the mountains, in an area known as Sobradinho and the third on the Morro da Chácara do Céu (Heaven Farm Mountain).

The UPP unit exercises a model of 'community policing' which aims to create an attitude of solidarity between the police and the population, hence limiting animosity and tension, and cultivating an environment of good will.
