at a glance

the botanical garden itself, now called 'instituto de pesquisas jardim botânico do rio de janeiro' (institute of research of the botanical garden of rio de janeiro), is an important recreational area for the residents of rio as well as attracting large amounts of visitors - most of its area open to the public and known for its calm and green spaces.

jardim botânico is predominately a residential area which enjoys the accessibility of a few recreational areas and cultural centers such as parque lage and lagoa rodrigo de freitas.

rua jardim botânico  is the main access route to humaitá and barra da tijuca from most of the southern zone, and it is also the location of the brazilian television network, globo - globo international is the second largest broadcast network in the world, with one of its main buildings located in this street, which has allowed for a small audiovisual industry to develop around the area.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
