herr pfeffer is a german restaurant named in honor of the late holf pfeffer who created the restaurant adega do pimenta, which has two locations in rio - the first restaurant was opened in santa teresa in the late 1990's and afterwards a branch in downtown rio in centro.

the restaurant creator, who was from germany, fell in love with rio de janeiro, and in particular with santa teresa, which is why he decided to open his first restaurant there - herr pfeffer is located in the trendy and affluent neighborhood of leblon.

the decor inside looks very traditionally german, with the tables being covered with checkered tablecloths along with small chandeliers hanging from the walls - popular with locals who enjoy eating good german cuisine in a relaxed and fun environment.

the grilled knee of pork served with sauerkraut and roast potatoes is worth a try and one of the most ordered dishes on the menu - diners can also enjoy sausage and cheese fondue.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
