at a glance

another seminal brazilian dessert is pudim de leite moça, a milk pudding of portuguese origin, made almost entirely, of course, of brazilian's most favorite ingredient, condensed milk.

the dessert is made of eggs, milk, sugar and condensed milk, also served with a light caramel syrup atop, overall very sweet, creamy, refreshing, inexpensive, and super easy to make - the pudding is also a classic dessert in rio's cuisine, present at most events and commonly found in restaurants and brazilian style botequin bars.

there are several variations of the original pudding recipe that include bread, tapioca, cheese, coconut, lemon, orange, cassava, corn, chocolate, and even rum. around christmas time, there is a nut version of the pudding as well.

in addition to these super sweet delights, bolo, or cake, is another common sugary snack that cariocas enjoy - various confeitarias scattered all over the city offer a variety of cakes and other baked goods which can be indulged with coffee during the afternoon or even for breakfast.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
