at a glance

for a more challenging ascent, pedra da gávea offers hikers a fairly stern test, but with startling rewards - a round trip, to the 842 meter high summit, usually takes about seven hours, and has some tricky terrain, but, once at the top, those that have conquered the mountain are treated to one of the greatest views of the city, including all of its incredible landmarks.

all hikes in rio, easy or challenging, keep the promise of beautiful views and close-up encounters with lots of small animals - kind and hospitable hosts in their green realm.

important - mountain climbing, hiking, or any other outdoor activity is subject to risks of serious accidents, including death - people who do not possess proper hiking or climbing techniques, experience, and/or are not in excellent physical shape must hire or consult an expert trainer or guide for safety.  arrow-back     arrow-forward
