after the arrival of explorers, starting in the late 1700s with captain cook, the hawaiin culture drastically changed - eventually the spiritual connection to surf, along with its daily practice, quieted down for decades. a rebirth of surf emerged in hawaii, in the early 1900s, and many years later, in 1971,  bodyboarding was born, when one beautiful morning on the big island a man named time morey crafted a small foam board and gave it a whirl.
