capoeira is  one of rio de janeiro's primary cultural export - taught globally, individuals flock to the city to learn from the greatest masters. rio de janeiro is scheduled to host the 2nd world championship on sport capoeira, in 2017 - baku city, azerbaijan, organized the 1st world championship and over forty countries participated.

The World Capoeira Federation, organizer of the event, has a number of key goals in the capoeira community - these include the creation of cohesive relations between national organizations and schools, along with obtaining capoeira's inclusion in the list of participating olympic sports.
