the hike is considered as one of the most difficult in rio, as it is steep all the way to the top of the 842 meters high summit, with some rock climbing required as well. the journey takes between two to four hours, depending on conditions, speed and experience.

it is advisable to go with a guide, as there are many rocky slopes, which can be dangerous, whilst the guides will also help hikers navigate the trail without getting lost.
