born in 1953, in the northern region of rio (zona norte), zico was a naturally attacking footballer, who went on to become the leading all time goal scorer for carioca club, flamengo, with 508 goals in 731 matches.

nicknamed the 'white pele', after brazil's most celebrated player pele, zico went on to score 48 goals for the brazilian national side, making him the fourth highest in history.

during this time, he would score 333 goals in the city's iconic maracanã stadium, more than any other player, and represented brazil three times at the world cup.
