set in rio's zona south-west, in the newly developed neighborhood by the same name, praia do recreio dos bandeirantes, knows simply as praia do recreio, is a stretch of white, soft sand nearly 3 kilometers long - clean greenish and light blue waters, beautiful views, strong waves, and a variety of kiosks and surfing schools make of this beach a beloved area by many surfers and local residents alike. 

the waves at recreio are quite good throughout the entire year, and are known for having great conditions for both traditional surf and surf in its adapted forms - the swell coming in from the southeast is one of the best, though there are good swells that arrive from the south and southwest as well.
