the airport roberto marinho at jacarepaguá, known as aeroporto jacarepaguá,  was constructed in 1969 and inaugurated in 1971, when the aeronautic ministry officially authorized the operations.

the airport has since received a number of installations that facilitate the operations of the airport, including operation offshore, a maritime platform.

the airport is located in the region between the parks of pedra branca and tijuca, or more specifically, in the neighborhood of jacarepaguá, near the villas that house olympic athletes.
