in addition to this, a percentage of each ticket sale for the train is given to the brazilian institute of the environment (ibama), the organization in charge of forest conservation issues - the train leaves from rio's codme velho station, travelling 3,824m along its railway track, eventually arriving at the summit of the corcovado mountain, at an altitude of 710m.

the train is weighs an impressive 36,8 tons, with a capacity of 345 passengers. even with all of this weight, it manages uphill speeds of 15kmph, while safety regulations dictate that it travels downhill at a speed of 12kmph.
