in 1921 the archdiocese of rio de janeiro once again considered the possibility, and raised the means via donations. once the project was fully funded and approved, a debate ensued regarding the potential position of the sculpture.      there was much discussion as to where the statue should be placed - at one time even the sugar loaf mountain was considered.
