highlighted by the brazilian speleology society, 59m-long gruta do belmiro is brazil's 7th largest cave in terms of overall surface area. the cave drops down 5 meters, making it the 12th deepest cave in the country - it is famous for its size and several giant fissures, including a few high-rise openings.

to get to the trail from copacabana, hikers can take buses to praça afonso viseu - once there, signs direct visitors to continue along cascatinha road, then up to major archer road.
