as a result of the recent addition of these to the state park system, the infrastructure is undergoing improvements to accommodate the influx of cave enthusiasts and tourists.

also famous are the cave of the president (gruta do presidente), in the national park serra dos órgãos, and the  gruta do acaiá, on ilha grande.

the instituto terra brasil in cooperation with the parque national da tijuca is promoting free, guided tours, every sunday with departure from the park at 9 am.
