another location of interest, near the lagoon, is the sierra de jaconé, which has preserved much of its native vegetation and wildlife, making it a pleasantly tropical excursion.

unfortunately, much of the vegetation that once bordered the lagoon has been destroyed, with the water of the lagoon being subject to some pollution. however, the lagoon is still popular for fishing and for water sports, and with mountains on one side, and the beach on the other, it is a great spot to get in touch with nature.
