one of the larger lagoons in the região dos lagos, the lagoa de saquarema continues along the eastern passage of the atlantic coast, with an incredible area of 24 kilometers squared, as it hems the sea. the lagoon is made up of four distinct compartments, or pools, which are entitled fora, boqueirão, jardim, and urussanga, running from east to west.

as the name alludes to, the lagoon is located in the municipality of saquarema, not far from the city, with numerous mountains surrounding it, of which a particularly popular one for hiking is the morro da cruz - it offers incredible views of the lagoon.

additional mountains surrounding the lagoon are the mato grosso, redonda, tingui, and the palmital, with a highest peak reaching an impressive 879 meters into the sky.
