the beach of the ecological reserve is so named  as it is located within an area of environmental protection, where many tropical species can be found, including exotic butterflies, native birds, and even alligators, whilst a little further inland is the rest of the protected area. 

there are no buildings on the shore, allowing a real sense of escapism from the city and the waters along the beach are known for their good waves, making the beach a favorite amongst local surfers.

there is a great diversity of sea life in the ocean facing the praia da reserva, including many species that made it a popular spot for fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
