choro reflects the demographics of the country on 1880, as it incorporates various european dancing genres, mainly scottish waltz, polka, portuguese folk music, along with african elements. originally played by a trio of flute, guitar and cavaquinho (a small acoustic guitar), now it also includes the mandolin, acoustic guitar, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and a pandeiro for light percussion. |
