finally, near praia de itaipú is the morro das andorinhas, the hill separating itaipú from itacoatiara beach. from the top of the morro das andorinhas, reachable via an easy trail in 30 minutes, the view is gorgeous. itacoatiara beach can be seen, the serra da tiririca, the the formations of costão and alto mourão, the pedra do elefante, itaipú beach and lagoon, camboinhas beach, most of the oceanic region of niterói, and even parts of rio's zona sul. on this page we posted some pictures of the praia de itaipú, along with some photographs of the lagoa here.
