dividing prainha de piratininga from piratininga beach, is the rock called 'pedra da baleia' (stone of the whale), a formation resembling a whale and a very popular diving and snorkeling spot. further, the ilha do veado (island of the deer) is right across from prainha, adding a dimension to the already interesting landscape. 

nearby, the lagoa de piratininga has some truly beautiful views that are worth exploring while in the area - from the beach, it can be reached by walking 10 minutes along avenida do forte.
