officially called praia da gávea, são conrado beach begins at avenida niemeyer and stretches for three kilometers up to the são conrado tunnel. with beautiful delicate white sands, green waters and stunning views of the surrounding hills of the tijuca national park, the beach is a treat for any visitor. this beach faces avenida prefeito mendes de morais, a road that is exclusively residential - exception made for some kiosks, there are no commercial establishments along it. as there are no hotels, bars, or restaurants along the road facing the beach, the area is much more quiet and secluded than nearby barra and leblon beaches.
