at the right end of the beach one can find praia do pepino, where hang-gliders and para-gliders launching from the nearby pedra bonita ramp land. with good waves, the beach attracts surfers and other water sports enthusiasts - praia do pepino is the most popular section of this beach. crowded during the week-ends, these waters are almost empty during the week, and this is when high-profile people come to enjoy some privacy. following the occupation of the nearby favela rocinha by the polícia pacificadora, são conrado beach has increased in popularity, and perhaps some of the privacy once offered by this beach has disappeared.
