camboinhas has a unique cultural facet as well - the traditional tekoa mboy-ty village is located here, which is a community of native brazilians from the tupi-guarani ethnic group.

camboinhas is a sacred area in their culture, and the nearby duna pequena ('small dune') archaeological site contains burials dating back 6,000 years.

in spite of a devastating fire that destroyed much of their existing material culture in 2008, the tribe continues with works done within the community.
