their detour is normally caused by the inexperience of the younger penguins that, in their quest to find food in warmer waters, lose the rest of the flock, as they are caught in currents from the Strait of Magellan (thus the name) arriving to warmer-than-ideal waters.

The penguins' appearance seem to emphasize  the diversity that characterizes the city, even in the animal kingdom.
