at a glance

Opened in 1985, Estação Botafogo was the first of the cinemas in what has since become the Grupo Estação - It is one of the cornerstones of independent cinema in the city, showing a diverse range of exceptional and experimental film.

The Botafogo theatre, conveniently located next to the metrô station, is a great purveyor of niche film - Showcasing films that span a range of different nationalities, sexualities and cinematographic styles, it is one of the favorite haunts for film critics and connoisseurs across the city.

The first film showcased was Arnaldo Jabor's 'Eu sei que vou te amar' - Since its inauguration the theatre has played a foundational role in the cultural development of the neighborhood, reinvigorating Cariocas' longstanding love of motion pictures from across the globe.

The cinema contains three screens, with 280 seats, 41 seats and 66 seats respectively. The small complex is also home to a video store and café.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
