since 1961, every november the villa-lobos festival has promoted Brazilian musicians and composers through a variety of concerts and shows -  both classical and popular music are presented to the audiences, with particular attention to Brazilian culture. The Villa-Lobos Festival established itself both as the largest and most comprehensive Brazilian music festival in the country, and as an aggregator of top talent across different generations and genres, offering access to an important representation of Brazilian musical culture.  Past editions have hosted such remarkable artists as the composer César Guerra-Peixe, the accordionist Richard Galliano, the pianist Clelia Iruzun, singer and guitarist Joăo Bosco, the Art Metal Quintet, and the guitarist Yamandú Costa.
