unlike the wall of samba sound from february's carnival, the festas juninas are sound-tracked by forró - the accordion-led folk music that has as much in common with polka as with bossa nova.

june 29th is the festa do SÃO PEDRO - DIA DOS PESCADORES E AS VIUVAS, or saint peter's feast, day of fishermen and widows. 

As the last of the Festas Juninas, this fest coincides with the Day of Fishermen, given that this was Saint Peter's profession - he was Jesus' favorite disciple and the first Pope.
