miguel pereira is one of 13 cities in the region that participate in the café, cachaça and chorinho festival, which honors and showcases the local coffee, liquor and traditional music. now in its tenth year running, the festivities here include workshops and tastings of artisanal fares along with musical and dance performances. the festival takes place in april and participation is free of charge. in july some 30,000 people descend on miguel pereira to celebrate the winter festival - with events in plazas and public spaces throughout the city, the festival has live music, theater, art and photography expositions, food presentations and wine tasting. and with events taking place for most of the month and the weather as mild as ever, it is a big hit with locals and tourists alike. | january | |||
