in winter, people make it out to mountainous nova friburgo to celebrate the world's favorite pairing: wine and cheese. the festival de queijos e vinhos is traditional of the region.

locals and tourists buy tickets for a table that holds four, six or eight people to have a seat at the limited event held at the nova friburgo country club. cheese, meats, breads, toasts, fruits, soups, patés, mousses and, of course various types of wine are served to guests.

red and white, dry and mild, sparkling or not, any palette will be pleased with the selected wines served by bottle to the table. entertainment and live music is presented along with the tastings.

guests also take home a traditional party pitcher as a memento of the occasion-an iconic token that many keep for years on the shelves of kitchens everywhere.
